Nordrhein-Westfalen Cricket Union e.V(NRWCU)Youth Development Initiatives
One of NRWCU’s key goals is to introduce cricket as a sport to youth as early as possible in order to allow our youth to live up to their full potential. We are the main player in terms of promoting cricketing opportunities in NRW and Germany as a whole.
Thus far we have been engaged in bringing cricket coaching courses to state primary, secondary and special needs schools in NRW as well as conducting intensive courses during school holidays and cricketing events in public parks, cricket grounds and indoor courts. To further enhance the immersive learning aspect of our activities, we have also been running residential cricketing programs set in rural areas to provide a holistic learning experience for our youth.
Currently, we are actively engaged in developing and supporting emerging junior cricket clubs as well as for youths who are seriously under-represented in the cricketing community, such as girls and disabled players.
Our future goals are to further increase our investment in our youth programmes, increase awareness of our activities and aims, and to continue to provide high quality cricketing opportunities and equipment to school, clubs and the general public.
NRWCU Youth Cricket runs solely off club membership funds and we receive no funding from public or government bodies or corporate sponsors. Yet this has not impeded our tremendous success. From our humble beginnings as a small body within the NRWCU with one cricket ground, one youth team and one officer, we have now grown to a body of over fifty members, five clubs and tripled our manpower and resources.
