NRWCU U16 Team Play Super Cup Game with Deventer U16

NRWCU’s Under 16 team played their first ever Super Cup match in Holland against the Deventer Under 16 team. After our teams defeat in a major tournament last May, NRWCU brought their best players to this event, with some new faces joining the team.

The coin toss was won by NRWCU, who chose to bat first, bringing in a reasonable score of 152 for 10 in 35 overs. However, Deventer came in stronger, managing 152 for 8 and in 34.2 overs, defeating NRWCU by a relatively small margin.

Both teams played strong positions in the match, even though NRWCU’s team had not had much opportunity for practice on cricket grounds due to the lack of support from a few local authorities in Germany, who are sadly impeding an otherwise fast growing cricket union.

Hopefully, with the support of these authorities in acquiring pitch time for practice, NRWCU youths will see more success in 2016.

We would like to thank our youth officer Raymond Cooray for organising this event and helping inspire our youths to reach new heights.
